Tank or tankless: which water heater is right for me?
Tankless isn't automatically the money-saver. It costs more up front and, in Florida's hard water, needs regular descaling — but it lasts longer (15–20 years vs. 8–12) and never runs out of hot water. For many Space Coast homes a quality tank is still the better value; tankless pays off when you want endless hot water, tight-space mounting, and you'll stay long enough to bank the longer lifespan.

“Tankless always saves money” ignores two Florida realities: the higher up-front and install cost (sometimes a gas or electrical upgrade), and hard-water scale that demands periodic descaling to protect the unit and its warranty. Skip the maintenance and a tankless unit can fail early — erasing the savings.
